Jeanette Kahn took over the accounts and bookkeeping of the cattle trade business. She had agreed with her husband that she would spend a day off with Fredy in Stuttgart once a month.
"When I was younger, the two of us, my mother and I, used to go to Stuttgart together. It was a kind of ritual, because my father always only had his cattle on his mind. We had ourselves a really nice time, every time."
Fredy's parents took him to the synagogue in Stuttgart on holidays and introduced him to Jewish community life.
