Zilly and Wilhelm Wälder had to leave Rexingen on August 19, 1942, together with the last 47 Jews. Via Stuttgart they were deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto. They were all elderly people. They were promised a place in an "old people's home" and robbed of their last money. The conditions in Theresienstadt were horrible and many people from Rexingen died of hunger and diseases after a short time or were deported to Treblinka and Auschwitz.
