In a letter dated August 14,1942, Berthold Auerbacher received notice that he was to be deported to the East with his wife and daughter Inge.
In the letter, the transport number 408 is noted for Inge.
During the search in a gymnasium in Göppingen, Inge was able to defend her doll Marlene. The family was taken to the internment camp on Stuttgart's Killesberg.
The deportation train left the Inner North Station in Stuttgart on August 22, 1942 with 1078 Jews.
On August 23, it reached the Bohusovice train station. From there, the deportees had to walk almost three kilometers to the Theresienstadt concentration camp ghetto.
