Grandfather Max Lauchheimer died on May 29, 1939, as a result of concentration camp imprisonment in Dachau.
Inge Auerbacher wrote about this: "Grandfather soon died of a broken heart. His illness and disappointment with the country he loved were too much for him." Grandmother Betty Lauchheimer was deported to Riga in November 1941. She did not return.
Inge and her parents had to move from the grandparents' house to the so-called "Judenhaus" [Jews’ House] in Göppingen at Metzgerstraße 16.
In 2007 and 2017 Stolpersteine [Stumbling Stones] were placed for the grandparents in front of the residential building Vorderer Berg 23 in Jebenhausen.
