Lilian Barber had always been a great lover of animals. She would have loved to be a veterinarian and especially loved dogs.

After retiring, she and her husband established a greyhound breeding in Southern California. She participated in competitions and published books and essays on Italian greyhounds. She was invited as an expert by international breeders in Europe, Australia and South America.
