Even before the proclamation of the State of Israel, Manfred Bernheim realized the plan he had already conceived in the Sennfeld estate in 1938.
"To complete our task, we - Chanah and I - illegally went to Palestine, where we landed in January 1948. Our destination was Kibbutz Hama'apil, where most of our group had already settled."
The kibbutz had been established in November 1945. In Israel, Manfred changed his name to Manef Biran. His childhood friend Joel (Martin) Eppstein also settled on the kibbutz.
