Stadtarchiv Hechingen
During the night of the pogrom, the Synagogue in Hechingen was destroyed. Leon Schmalzbach was carried off to the concentration camp at Dachau.
After his release, he planned to emigrate to Paraguay and applied for a passport, which he was granted, for this purpose.
In November of 1939 however, he was arrested again and imprisoned in Stuttgart. This prevented his emigration.
