Sally Lemberger was the eldest of Rexingen cattle dealer Isidor Lemberger and his wife Rosa née Gideon’s four sons. Sally was born on November 29, 1923 and entered the village’s Jewish school in 1930. It was in the same building as the school for the Catholic children and only a few houses away from his parents' home. All Jewish children were taught in one single class. From 1933 to 1934, their teacher was Wolf Berlinger.
