Some Rexingen families had made plans to jointly emigrate to Eretz Yisrael and establish a new village there which would be called Shavei Zion. They wanted to stay together and support each other.

The Lemberger family was also determined to join this group. They were looking for someone to buy their house in order to be able to fund their emigration. In February 1938, the first families left Rexingen. Isidor Lemberger, together with his wife and children, wanted to join them later that year.
