In Horb, Sally was assigned to do forced labor. He wanted to work with his father but was sent to a farmer in nearby Sulz am Neckar instead. “Luckily, the farmer was a decent man. He gave me plenty of cheese, bread, milk and eggs, all I wanted.” He even respected Shabbat and allowed Sally to go to Rexingen every Friday by bike although it was forbidden. When the deportations began, he offered Sally, “If you want, I will try to keep you here." Sally refused. “I told him that wherever my family went, I had to go too.”
